Muse Code GUI: Run Meta's Coding Agent in OpenBot
OpenBot runs Muse Code, Meta's coding agent, as one agent of a team, on macOS, Windows or Linux, with your Meta account or a Meta API key. You get shared channels with agents on other providers, and an app on your phone.
How to set it up
Download OpenBot
For macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon or Intel, Windows 10 or later on x64, or x64 or arm64 Linux.
Connect Muse Code
Choose Muse, and OpenBot downloads and pins its own copy of Muse Code. Sign in with your Meta account in the browser, or save a Meta API key.
Give your agent a job
Create an agent on Muse Code, choose its model, and give it a task. OpenBot makes a workspace folder for it. When the work grows, add agents on other providers to the same channel.
What OpenBot adds
Meta's models
A Muse Code agent uses the Meta models that Muse Code lists, such as Muse Spark 1.3.
Steer it while it works
Send a message while a Muse Code agent works, and the message changes the course of the current turn.
A team, not one chat
Each agent has its own job and workspace. A lead agent gives parts of a task to other agents in a shared channel, and you step in when a decision needs you.
Your agents on your phone
The OpenBot apps for iPhone and Android connect to the computer that runs your agents, over an encrypted connection, with no VPN. Remote access needs an OpenBot account.
Change the provider, keep the work
Move an agent to a different provider and it keeps its role, workspace and conversation. Agents on different providers work in the same channel. When a plan reaches its limit, an agent can move to a backup model.
Your data on your computer
Workspaces, chats and files stay on the computer that runs OpenBot. The provider you choose gets the requests you send.
Use your AI plans
OpenBot is free for noncommercial use. Your agents use the plans you already pay for.
Official apps
The apps from Meta, and where they run. OpenBot runs the same agent, so you can use both.
| App | Runs on | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Muse Code in the terminal | macOS, Linux, Windows | The terminal agent. muse exec runs it with no interface, and muse serve runs it as a server. |
| Muse Code SDK | TypeScript. In developer preview | The engine behind the CLI, for your own program. |
Every plan an agent can use

Questions
Is Muse Code the same as the Muse app?
No. Muse Code is Meta's coding agent for the terminal. The Muse app is Meta's personal agent on a cloud computer. OpenBot runs Muse Code, and OpenBot vs Muse compares OpenBot with the app.
Is there a GUI for Muse Code?
Meta ships Muse Code for the terminal and as an SDK, with no desktop app. OpenBot is a desktop app that runs Muse Code as one agent of a team, with agents on other providers and an app on your phone.
How much does Muse Code cost?
Meta's plans cost $5, $15, $50 and $200 a month, and each one gives more use. By default, a plan is in Contributor mode: you get more use, and Meta can train on your content. You can also pay for each token with a Meta API key. Prices can be different in your region.
