ACP Agent GUI: Run Goose, Qwen Code and GitHub Copilot CLI in OpenBot
OpenBot runs any agent that speaks the Agent Client Protocol as one agent of a team, such as Goose, Qwen Code or GitHub Copilot CLI. You get shared channels with agents on other providers, and an app on your phone.
How to set it up
Download OpenBot
For macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon or Intel, Windows 10 or later on x64, or x64 or arm64 Linux.
Connect Goose, Qwen Code or Copilot CLI
Add a custom agent and type the command that starts it, or pick an agent that OpenBot finds on your computer or in the ACP registry. Check agent starts the command once to make sure that the agent answers. Each agent signs in with its own command.
Give your agent a job
Create an agent on Goose, Qwen Code or Copilot CLI, choose its model, and give it a task. OpenBot makes a workspace folder for it. When the work grows, add agents on other providers to the same channel.
What OpenBot adds
Presets for known agents
Presets fill in the start command for Goose, Qwen Code, GitHub Copilot CLI and Oh My Pi.
The ACP registry
Search, install, update and remove agents from the ACP registry on the computer that runs OpenBot.
Encrypted settings
OpenBot keeps the environment variables of each agent, such as an API key, encrypted.
A team, not one chat
Each agent has its own job and workspace. A lead agent gives parts of a task to other agents in a shared channel, and you step in when a decision needs you.
Your agents on your phone
The OpenBot apps for iPhone and Android connect to the computer that runs your agents, over an encrypted connection, with no VPN. Remote access needs an OpenBot account.
Change the provider, keep the work
Move an agent to a different provider and it keeps its role, workspace and conversation. Agents on different providers work in the same channel. When a plan reaches its limit, an agent can move to a backup model.
Your data on your computer
Workspaces, chats and files stay on the computer that runs OpenBot. The provider you choose gets the requests you send.
Use your AI plans
OpenBot is free for noncommercial use. Your agents use the plans you already pay for.
Official apps
The apps from their makers, and where they run. OpenBot runs the same agent, so you can use both.

Questions
What is the Agent Client Protocol?
The Agent Client Protocol (ACP) is an open protocol between apps and coding agents. A local agent talks JSON-RPC over its standard input and output. Zed and JetBrains govern it.
Which agents work in OpenBot?
Any agent that speaks ACP over standard input and output. OpenBot has presets for Goose, Qwen Code, GitHub Copilot CLI and Oh My Pi, and finds more in the ACP registry.
Can I send a message while a custom agent works?
Yes. The message waits until the current turn ends, and then the agent gets it. A custom agent works on one turn at a time.
Does GitHub Copilot CLI need a paid plan?
No. GitHub's Free plan includes the Copilot CLI, with limited use.
